Toyota might be considering a Prius hybrid pickup truck to add to a new line-up of vehicles.

Speculation across the web began just prior to the 2011 North American International Auto Show. Toyota is considering reviving the "Advanced Breakthrough Aero Truck" hybrid pickup concept. This vehicle was originally unveiled three years ago, also at the NAIAS.

Toyota has been planning an onslaught of Prius models for the next several years, including a "MPV" (the foreign equivalent of a minivan), a sporty coupe and now, apparently, a pickup truck.

With the help of Toyota, Tesla may be able to be profitable while making drive trains that will help save the world.

Even after all the problems in Toyota PR land over the last year, the Japanese auto maker is still on top. The latest Kelley Blue Book Brand Watch study said Toyota is on top ?as the most-considered auto brand among new-car shoppers.? This is according to a press release by KBB, Toyota held the ?most-considered auto brand? title from Q1 2007 through Q3 2009.

Toyota recently released details on its new RAV4 electric SUV at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. Toyota has made it clear it regards EV's as a niche vehicle, and is pinning its hopes on hybrids instead. Toyota will make only 35 test versions of RAV4s next year, before rolling out a production version of the car to customers in 2012.

The electric RAV4 is part of a niche market strategy. "A mobility system in Los Angeles will probably look very different from one in Dallas or New York or London or Shanghai," one exec said.

Toyota Creates More US Jobs With New Plant

Southern Indiana is going to see an expansion at one of their larger auto facilities, making way for more US-based jobs. The New Albany assembly line is hoping to create 30 more jobs for the area.

The plant will create and supply parts for the new Toyota Camry model, and all 30 positions are scheduled to be filled before the 2013 deadline.

TG Missouri, who owns the plant that manufactures consoles, dashboard equipment, painted trim parts and other safety components, will invest more than $3 million to upgrade machinery at its existing facility.

Toyota believes in keeping it green - that's why the Japanese auto maker has been ahead of the hybrid car competition for the last decade. Now, the company is reaching out to help those with electric car batteries recycle them.

Traditional vehicles implement lead-acid batteries. Hybrid cars typically incorporate a separate nickel metal hydride (called NiMH) or Lithium-ion (called Li-ion) battery to generate electric power.
